It has been my distinct pleasure to have served as your Board President for the past year, and on the Board for the past 3.5 years. I ask for your vote to keep serving Walnut Creek's K-8 students and families.

About Wenlei

Wenlei Johnson joined the Walnut Creek School District Governing Board in 2023 and currently serves as its President. Before joining the Board, Wenlei was actively involved at WCI and in the Indian Valley community - on the Indian Valley PTA, directing the school's Traffic & Safety Committee, and helping found its IDEA Committee.

As an attorney with over 20 years of experience, Wenlei brings a careful, practical approach to policy, budgets, and the questions that come before the board.

As a Board member, Wenlei holds the education of students above any particular principle, group interest or personal interest. The Board acts with a unity of purpose. Through a unified purpose, last year, Wenlei and the Governing Board selected and hired a new superintendent. She hopes to continue that journey and support the new superintendent in his new role, to provide leadership in developing administrative regulations and organizational structures, decision-making processes, and staff action plans that allow the district to fulfill its vision and goals.

My priorities for a second term

Three commitments to Walnut Creek families.

Set our new superintendent up for success

Superintendent Jon Campopiano is the face of our district. He needs a board that supports him, works with him, and keeps our schools stable and focused on students.

Put guardrails on technology and AI

Our children are growing up anxious and online. I will push for clear, sensible rules on technology and AI in our schools, so these tools help students learn without harming their well-being.

Close our achievement gaps

Our district is doing well, and we can always do better. I will keep the focus on raising results for socioeconomically disadvantaged students and English learners.
